Science Hook Lab Membership — Terms
Last updated October 18, 2026.
The Science Hook Lab is operated by Dennis Turner, a sole proprietor based in New York. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York. Questions? Use the Help button at the bottom of any page to send Dennis a message. We don't have a phone line or a mailing address to give out.
1. Membership & auto-renewal
Science Hook Lab Membership is billed monthly at $12/month or yearly at $79/year. Both plans renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. Your plan and price are shown at checkout before you confirm, and the price you start at stays your price for as long as your membership stays active.
2. 7-day free trial
New memberships start with a 7-day free trial. A card is required to start the trial, and you are limited to one trial per person. If you don't cancel before the trial ends, your card is charged automatically and your paid membership begins.
During the trial you can generate up to 10 hooks and up to 5 worksheets or lesson bundles.
3. Founding rate
The founding rate of $8/month is yours for as long as you stay subscribed. If you cancel and come back later, you'll pay the regular price.
The founding rate is limited to the first 50 members who join.
4. Canceling
Cancel anytime from your Account page — no contracts, no phone call required.
5. Refunds
30-day money-back guarantee on your first payment (monthly or annual); email me and I'll refund it.
6. Failed payments
If a payment fails (for example, a declined or expired card), we keep your access active for 7 days so you can update your payment method. If no payment goes through within those 7 days, your account is locked, including your saved library.
7. Library access after cancellation
If you cancel, you keep full access to everything until the end of the period you already paid for. When that period ends, your account and saved library are locked right away. Nothing is ever deleted: resubscribe at any time and your whole library comes back instantly.
Teachers who used the original free plan and never started a membership keep permanent view-only access to what they already made. They can view, print, and download it, but creating anything new requires a membership.
8. School licenses and invoices
For school, department, and district licenses, access begins once payment is received. If you're paying by purchase order or check, access begins once the invoice is marked paid.
9. AI-generated content
Hooks, worksheets, and every other output are AI-generated starting points. You, the teacher, review everything before using it with students.
10. Standards data credit
Standards alignment data is provided in part by the Common Standards Project and the Achievement Standards Network, made available under a CC BY license.
11. Student privacy
This is a teacher-only planning tool. Please don't enter identifying student information into any topic, hook, or worksheet field.
12. Limitation of liability
The Science Hook Lab and Dennis Turner are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, to the fullest extent permitted by law. The service is provided "as is."
13. Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated from time to time. Meaningful changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
